Pianist Rachel Cho joined the piano faculty at the University of Central
Oklahoma (UCO)’s School of Music in the fall of 2015, taught applied Piano
and class Piano. As a collaborative pianist at UCO, she also played for the String
and Vocal Arts divisions (University Choir, French Diction, German Lieder,
Advanced Choral Techniques, and Cantilena Women's Choir). She was also a
freelance accompanist at Oklahoma State University (OSU) and a pianist for the
OSU Jazz Ensemble. Prior to her appointment at UCO, Mrs. Cho served on the
faculties of New York University (NYU) and Houston Community College (HCC) :
taught Applied Piano, Class Piano as well as accompanying choir, voice and
instrumental students at HCC.

In December 2007, she won the first prize at the NYU Steinhardt Piano Concerto
Competition, and appeared as a soloist with the NYU Symphony Orchestra. She
also performed at the Schumann festival and her Interstudio Showcase was
broadcasted on NYU-TV. She was a pianist of the New Music Ensemble and
performed Prepared Piano with Electronics.

Mrs. Cho had the honor of participating in Marc Durand’s master classes at
Yamaha Artist Services in New York City. She also participated in master classes
with many notable musicians such as Garrick Ohlsson, Dmitry Rachmanov,
Jefferey Swann, Leslie Howard and Jerome Rose. She performed at summer
festivals including the Julliard Music Festival, the International Keyboard Institute
Festival, and the Seoul Chamber Music Festivals, where she performed as both
a solo and collaborative pianist. She has performed numerous
recitals in South Korea, Thailand, and the United States.

In addition to her classical endeavors, Mrs. Cho also performed as a fusion/
crossover artist in her capacity as the pianist and artistic director of the music
performance group TODA: experimental music group. She also started to play
jazz piano under a legendary jazz pianist Don Friedman while she was a
graduate student at NYU. She had the honor of playing with Richie Iacona, Bill
Cunliffe and Bob Sheppard while she was a principal pianist of South Texas Jazz
Band (Director: Dr. Woody Witt).

Mrs. Cho received her Masters of Music degree in Piano Performance from New
York University (NYU) on scholarship, studying with Professor Eduardus Halim.
During her graduate studies, she also served as an adjunct faculty member at
NYU teaching music major and non-music major students.
​
Mrs. Cho served as one of three jurors for the OMTA's Junior Competition in
Tulsa, Oklahoma in October 2016.
